Information on the IPL, which will be hosted this year, has begun to surface. In the same month, the pre-tournament big auction in Bangalore went off without a hitch. According to Cricbuzz, an English sports website, 70 matches will be contested in the group stage this season, with a total of 10 clubs competing in the 15th.
Three stadiums in Mumbai will host 55 of the 70 group matches between these teams. Due to the debut of the Corona Omichrome variation, Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium have been chosen to host the competition this season.
Apart from that, the remaining 15 matches will be held in Pune's MCA International Stadium.
Two more teams have been introduced to the mix.
At Wankhede and DY Patil Stadiums, the ten clubs competing in this season will play 4-4 group matches. These teams will play three matches at Brabourne and Pune at the same time. The number of teams has been expanded from eight to ten this season. Two new clubs have joined the Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans.
When does the new season begin?
The commencement date for this year's IPL has yet to be determined. Two dates for the opening are being discussed. The broadcaster has asked that the opening match be held on Saturday, March 26. This allows for a doubleheader on Sunday the following day. It will be advantageous if the competition begins on a weekend. When it comes to the board, the BCCI intends to begin the competition on March 27. In any event, the competition will end on Sunday, May 29th. The playoff locations are yet to be determined. The IPL Governing Council meeting on Thursday will be able to make a final judgement.
